http://tinyurl.com/attvpg Jason Kidd is headed to Cabo, not Phoenix, for the weekend. He's fallen from the ranks of the All-Stars. Mark Cuban can make a case (with confusing statistical evidence) that Kidd has been the league's best point guard this season. ESPN.com stat geek John Hollinger can make a case (with confusing, subscription-required statistical evidence) that Kidd has been middle of the pack among starting point guards. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. How many point guards would you take over Kidd right now? I'm not asking about trade scenarios, so forget age, contracts, etc. I'm asking which guys you'd rather have running your team for the rest of the season. New Orleans' Chris Paul and Utah's Deron Williams are no-brainers. San Antonio's Tony Parker and Denver's Chauncey Billups are pretty close to that category. The rest of the good/great PGs are up for debate. Hollinger's Player Efficiency Rating system ranks Kidd 15th among point guards this season, but that includes Jason Terry, whose minutes at the point are few and far between with Kidd on the scene. Devin Harris ranks second behind Paul, but Cuban would still pull the trigger on the Harris/Kidd deal "100 out of 100 times," as he's said about 100 times. The Mavs haven't been better with Kidd than Harris, so I'll stick Harris in the group of point guards I'd take over Kidd right now. And that might be it. Others we haven't mentioned whom Hollinger has ranked above Kidd: Orlando's Jameer Nelson (injured), Toronto's Jose Calderon (no defense), Boston's Rajon Rondo (had a triple-double on the Mavs last night and earned a ring last season), Philadelphia's Andre Miller, New York's Nate Robinson (yuck), Milwaukee's Ramon Sessions (zero playoff experience), Atlanta's Mike Bibby and Phoenix's Steve Nash. Cleveland's Mo Williams is right behind Kidd.
