Dirk Nowitzki's focus has always been a little different. "It was great," he said of his weekend in Phoenix. "I got some rest and really caught up on my sleep. I didn't go out last night [Saturday]." The low profile Nowitzki tends to take at these events carried over onto the court as well. He had a quiet eight points in the West's 146-119 victory. It will be much more difficult for Nowitzki to fly under the All-Star radar next year, when the game will be played at the Cowboys' new stadium. "Maybe I'll host a big bash," Nowitzki said. "You've got to. It will be fun for everyone to see what a great city Dallas is. "Everything is bigger in Texas – you know that. It should be great." Passing the All-Star torch: All-Star Weekend is over. The next time the league's best and brightest are assembled, it will be one year from now in Arlington and Dallas. Commissioner David Stern said Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has assured him a record crowd of 100,000 when the game is played in the Cowboys' new stadium Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010. The Friday and Saturday night events will take place at American Airlines Center. "I think it's going to be neat that we can put 90,000 or more people into a game," Stern said. "We like the bigger venue because it does take care of the season ticket issue that was of great concern for Mark." Cuban has not wanted to host an All-Star Game previously because Mavericks season ticket holders would lose their seats to the league's army of corporate sponsors. All quiet on the trade front: Donnie Nelson, the Mavericks' president of basketball operations, traded conversations and texts with his NBA counterparts all weekend in Phoenix. Those were the only trades made by the Mavericks. Nelson made it clear nothing has materialized in the days leading up to Thursday's deadline. "More hot air than anything," Nelson said. "No action." Devin Harris reinvents himself: Devin Harris was drafted by the Mavericks. But he made his All-Star debut Sunday night in his first full season as a member of the New Jersey Nets. "It's not validation," said Harris, who finished with six points. "It's just, I came in and wanted to reinvent myself and get back to the player I knew I was capable of being. I knew these things were possible, but it was about having that opportunity. "After the trade happened, it opened things up for me." Briefly: San Antonio's Tim Duncan and Tony Parker were booed during their introductions. Guess the fans here still remember all of those losses to the Spurs in the playoffs. ... Here's something you don't see every day: Houston's Yao Ming having his shot blocked. Orlando's Dwight Howard rejected Yao in the third quarter. ********************************************************************* -- Only the strong survive- Iverson ═█┘ W ● ●︵ ● ●)) <\ / \\ />>/ ╲> >> ========= http://www.wretch.cc/blog/AWEI3 ========= -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 58.114.81.64
