Mark Cuban: 'Could be a week of lots of talk, no action.'
11:38 AM Mon, Jun 22, 2009 / Tim MacMahon

This should be the Mavs' busiest off-season as far as roster remodeling goes
since the summer of '04, when Steve Nash, Antawn Jamison and Antoine Walker
left Dallas and Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Jason Terry and Erick Dampier
arrived.
For MFFLs, the most exciting thing about Thursday's draft isn't which player
the Mavs might pick at No. 22 (although you should still read the post below
about the PGs who could be available there.) It's the potential for a
blockbuster trade, since those sort of deals tend to go down on draft night.
Mark Cuban has let the NBA world know that he's a buyer in this tough
economic market. The Mavs are actively shopping Jerry Stackhouse's expiring
contract with a sweet buyout. Same goes for Erick Dampier's expiring deal.
They're not looking to get rid of Josh Howard (team option for 2010-11), but
he's available if the return is right.
Donnie Nelson, as JJT wrote this morning, is working hard to try to find the
right deal(s) for the Mavs. His boss is tanned, relaxed and ready to bankroll
but braced for a boring -- hoping for the best, but bracing himself for a
boring draft night.
A tweet from @mcuban this morning: "heading to Dallas from the Caymans. .
Fired up about the NBA Draft this week. Could be a week of lots of talk, no
action. Thats the NBA way"
