After the Olympics, Dirk indicated that he'd take a long break from
international competition. He's apparently changed his mind.

Dirk wants to play for Germany in the European championships in September, he
told reporters in Frankfurt. This story mentions that Dirk needs the
Mavericks' OK, but I don't think that's the case. Mark Cuban has made it
clear over the years that he'd prefer that his stars don't participate in
international play.

"I originally had other plans in summer, but that changed overnight," Dirk
said. "Now I am in Germany anyway, so why shouldn't I play a little Euro?"

Those other plans were to get hitched to Cristal Taylor, and that didn't
exactly work out. Dirk also addressed the drama in his personal life with the
German media, telling Bild Magazine that he's getting over the bizarre
breakup and still wants to have a family, "but it will not be easy to win my
heart."
