http://tinyurl.com/n6frkx When I read Dime Magazine's report that Stephen Jackson wanted out of Golden State and listed "anywhere in Texas" among his preferred destinations, my mind immediately started pondering how he'd fit with the Mavs. I was fired up about how one of my favorite NBA players -- a versatile shooter/distributor/defender who just happens to be a colorful personality that provides blog fodder by the bunches -- might enhance the Mavs' core. So I started kicking tires ... and found out that the odds of Jackson joining the Mavs are closer to none than slim, even in a straight salary dump. That's not to discount DallasBasketball.com's report over the weekend that the Warriors want to discuss such a deal (maybe Jackson, maybe Monta Ellis) with the Mavs. Mark Cuban's nemesis Nellie might make that phone call, but from what I'm hearing, the potentially awkward conversation probably wouldn't last very long. (Although, if the Mavs could somehow get Ellis in a deal in which J.J. Barea is the best player they're giving up, that'd be awfully tough to turn down. But that sure would be tough to sell in Warriors World.) Cuban and Donnie Nelson, armed with Greg Buckner's buyout and a lot of other expiring contracts, will continue to explore ways to make the Mavs better. But it's not a fit with Jackson, even though Rick Carlisle remains a fan of the fiery swingman after coaching him in Indiana. It's a matter of money and minutes. Jackson is due more than $35 million over the next four seasons. That means Cuban would have to cough up more than $70 million for him, when you factor in the luxury tax. Jackson四年35M,意思是Cuban要多花35M的豪華稅。 Cuban might not blink about paying that much if Jackson would be a 30-plus-minute player. But that would mean that either Josh Howard or Shawn Marion would be sitting on the bench a bunch, and that's not going to happen. Cuban可能不在意錢,但如果Jackson來Josh或Marion將要坐板凳。 The Mavs have high hopes (no pun intended) for Howard, who took a while to click with Carlisle but played his best ball despite bad ankles down the stretch last season. They're excited to see how he'll perform when he's happy and healthy. The Mavs absolutely, positively will not send Howard to Golden State to get Jackson. And they wouldn't have traded for Marion and committed to him for five seasons unless they planned to give him major minutes. 小牛對Howard充滿期待。 If you've got three good players and not enough minutes to go around, you're risking a "chaotic situation," as one Mavs insider put it. You can have too much of a good thing. That is why if Jackson gets his trade wish, it's extremely doubtful the destination will be Dallas. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 220.136.183.24
