Mavericks rookie Dominique Jones spoke with Truehoop after Thursday's game
against No. 1 overall pick John Wall and the Washington Wizards at the NBA
summer league in Las Vegas.. Some highlights:
On playing against Wall: "I like playing against people like [Wall], because
they compete. All I try to do is make it hard for the defender. I try to
predict what they're going to do and I try to reach. I've got a 6-10 wingspan
so I'm trying to get lucky too."
On how he is going to attack offensively: "The plan is to get into open
space. Pull up in the paint, get to the rim or make things happen for my
team."
On his propensity for drawing contact and getting to the line: "I look at my
defender when I'm in the lane. If he's coming to me at full speed, then I'll
make that contact. Once I get that contact, I have a chance for an and-1."
On playing point guard vs. shooting guard: "I love the point guard position,
as people can probably tell the way I work with the ball. But whatever the
Mavericks need me to do, that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to try to
prepare myself and learn from Jason Terry and Jason Kidd so that when the
time comes at either position that I play, I won't be a liability."
In the battle of two first-round picks, Jones outscored Wall, but Wall's
Wizards beat Jones' Mavericks 88-82.
Wall, the No. 1 overall pick missed 15 of 19 shots, but went 13-for-15 from
the line and added 10 assists.
Jones finished with 28 points, hitting 9 of 17 shots and making 10 of 12 from
the line. He had four rebounds, four assists, but six fouls.

這場比賽的一點心得
John Wall真的很快
然後也很壯
雖然他的FG不佳
但是小牛這場比賽完全被他耍的團團轉
Wall常常以快速速度切入然後選擇投球或傳掉
小牛就這樣被人家導出籃下空檔
小牛這場防守一大半是放Jones與Wall對抗
在過半場時Wall常跨一步Jones就跟丟
不過Jones會馬上去對位
在防守上很認真
進攻方面的話也是Jones VS Wall
小牛戰術就運過半場傳給Jones
讓他嘗試打掉
Jones會先運球過人然後到籃下
他到籃下會習慣轉身然後傳球或上籃
滿奇特
因為他都是在籃框附近才轉身
主播有說是他的習慣
Jones這幾場表現不錯
在對抗性/防守/得分上都有表現
目前感覺是小牛選到他賺到
不過開季才是真正表現的時候
要到開季才能確定他是否是寶
