拳王獲得的讚美與日俱增，司機在早先認為他是小牛隊的MVP，教練說他是小牛隊
的"精神"。
對於這點，我們很難去爭論，因為他們的戰績目前為23W5L，而且他們的賽程很硬，
但他們卻從聯盟前段班取得不少勝利，包括26-4的馬刺。
這是一個有關於有前途、有運動力的年輕中鋒的勵志故事，他熬過艱苦的兩年，這
兩年間飽受傷痛的復健之苦，但如今他幫助小牛隊更上一層樓

拳王是小牛隊防守崛起的中樞，從訓練營開始，他就展現出他激情且外向的人格特質，
不論是在球場還是休息室。他在比賽中不停的喊話、發出指示，並把球員推到他們所
應在的位置，因為小牛隊目前採取區域聯防及人盯人交互使用。
他的隊友十分歡迎他充滿激情又誠懇的領導風格，這是小牛隊之前所欠缺的因子，
Tyson表示這是他對球隊的貢獻。
Tyson說大家都十分的好相處，不會有人介意被指摘錯誤，因為他們想要的是勝利，
而他以前曾經遇過有人不願意聽的情形，但這支隊伍不會，眼中只有勝利。
他目前拿到8.8分以及9籃板，皆略高於生涯平均，逐漸接近2007~2008的11.7分、11.8
板，但那個賽季，他平均打了35分鐘，比這季多了8分鐘，因為有黑霧分擔時間
這是一個絕妙的組合，一隻一直在尋找中鋒的球隊，以及一位需要一個新家重拾職業

The praise has been thick and ongoing for Dallas Mavericks center Tyson
Chandler, from Dirk Nowitzki calling him the MVP of the early season to coach
Rick Carlisle almost instantly declaring him as being the "spirit" of the
club.
It's hard to argue with any of it as the Mavs enjoy a five-day holiday break
owners of a 23-5 record. They've won 16 of 17 and already have numerous
victories against the league's top contenders, including the division-rival
San Antonio Spurs, who sit atop the NBA at 25-3 entering tonight's game at
the Orlando Magic, the most recent Mavs victim.
It is an inspiring tale of a promising, athletic, fiery young center beset by
injuries and then doubt, only to persevere through a grueling two years of
recovery and setbacks and then to ultimately uplift his new team.
Mavs fans certainly had their doubts about the 7-foot-1 Chandler, who they
remembered as an alley-oop dunking machine with Chris Paul in New Orleans.
That was before foot injuries ruined consecutive seasons and even NBA teams
wondered if Chandler could ever become the pogo-stick he once was at both
ends of the floor.
But what about Chandler? An early entrant out of high school in his 10th
season and who just turned 28, did he doubt he'd ever make it all the way
back?
"No," he said firmly. "When you’re initially hurt and you have injuries like
I did and the doctor basically tells you it’s going to take you about a year
to get back to where you’re used to playing, you kind of don’t want to
believe it. And then you go through rough patches where you get discouraged
and you’re like, 'Man, is it ever going to happen?'
"But, to be honest, this summer, all my rehab and all the strength training
that I did and then being able to go play for Team USA and go through all the
training camps and everything, going through that I knew that I was back,
that I was my old self again."
Chandler is at the heart of the Mavs' defensive rise. From the start of
training camp he expressed his emotional and outspoken personality, both on
the floor and in the locker room. He's constantly talking during a game,
barking out signals, pushing players where they need to be as Dallas has
mixed its exceptional zone defense with man-to-man. In the locker room, he
can be a no-holds-barred kind of presence, unafraid to tell teammates what he
sees and how he feels.
That his teammates instantly welcomed his brand of fiery, brutally honest
leadership from the onset -- an ingredient often missing on past Mavs teams
-- is a tribute to them, Chandler said.
"It says more about the character of the team to be honest with you,"
Chandler said. "It’s just such a good locker room and such a good group of
guys that it’s not hard to come in here and fit in. And they don’t mind
somebody getting in their face and they don’t mind somebody telling them
when they’re wrong. It says a lot about their character here that they’re
willing; and they just want to win.
"I’ve had situations in the past where it didn’t all go peaches and flowers
because everybody doesn’t want to hear what you have to say and your
feelings. I’m an emotional guy. I play like it out there and I voice my
opinions sometimes in the locker room. Sometimes people don’t want to hear
that. But this is a team that’s all about winning and it’s been good."
It certainly has. Chandler is averaging 8.8 points a game and 9.0 rebounds,
both slightly higher than his career averages, while creeping closer to his
superb double-double season of 2007-08 in New Orleans when he averaged 11.7
points and 11.8 rebounds. That season, he averaged 35 minutes a game, about
eight more than he's averaging this season with Brendan Haywood coming off
the bench.
Mavs coach Rick Carlisle has purposefully kept Chandler's minutes around 27
or 28 for obvious health reasons in this renaissance season, but as Chandler
continues to make it more difficult to lift him Carlisle has extended his
playing time. After logging 30 or minutes in his first 23 games, he's played
31 or more in three of his his last four (he missed one game because of
illness).
It has been a match made in heaven for a franchise seemingly forever in
search of an all-around center and a center needing a new home to jumpstart
his career. When he got word of the trade to Dallas, Chandler said he knew it
would be the right fit. And he says so in his typically brutally honest sort
of way.
"I did, just because playing against them you could see the weaknesses,"
Chandler said. "I scouted them, had game plans and knew where we were going
to attack them. Then coming here, the first thing you think about is, 'OK,
that’s not going to happen.' When teams scout us I’ll make sure that at
least that’s taken out of the equation."
