Mavs' Beaubois on his return: 'Definitely soon' ... 'Roddy's as quick as 
ever,' says Terry

Those who picked the Tuesday following the Super Bowl as the day Roddy
Beaubois would participate in his first Mavericks practice this season,
please cash in your tickets.

Almost six months after Beaubois broke a bone in his left foot, the
second-year guard finally joined the team for practice. He remained behind as
the Mavericks headed to California to begin a road trip of three games in
four nights — Sacramento on Wednesday, Denver on Thursday and Houston on
Saturday.

Beaubois is scheduled to join the team in Houston, but neither he nor coach
Rick Carlisle expects him to play then.

"He's a ways away, but he continues to make progress," Carlisle said.

Carlisle said he has no timetable for Beaubois' return, and Beaubois could
only offer "definitely soon."

"I can't tell you when exactly because it was my first practice," he said. "I
have to play a couple practices and see how it is.

"At least I need a good week of practice. I cannot just jump from one-on-one
situation to a game. I have to play five-on-five, get used to playing with my
teammates. Then I'll come back."

Guard Jason Terry said he liked what he saw from Beaubois.

"Roddy's as quick as ever," Terry said. "The thing that sets him apart from
other guards in this league is speed and quickness. Add to the fact he can
shoot the ball with the best of them — hey, he's going to be a force."

Familiar site: Forward Peja Stojakovic will make his Mavericks road debut in
familiar territory tonight at Sacramento, where he was part of the best Kings
teams since the franchise moved there in 1985. He played there 71/2 seasons
and was a three-time All-Star before leaving during the 2005-06 season.

"I always keep those good memories in the back of my mind," Stojakovic said.
"We had some pretty good teams back in the day."

Stojakovic, who played Monday for the first time since November, said he was
sore from playing 20 minutes.

"But good sore," he said.

Rookie out: Rookie Dominique Jones recently suffered a stress fracture in his
foot that will sideline him for a significant period of time, two sources
said.

The injury occurred last week, and Jones stayed behind as the team left for
Sacramento

Jones has split time this season between the Mavericks and the NBA
Development League Texas Legends in Frisco. He has played in 18 games for the
Mavericks, averaging 2.3 points per game.


Briefly: Carlisle's emphasis in Tuesday's practice was rebounding and
transition defense after the Mavs allowed 34 fast-break points against
Cleveland as they hung on to win, 99-96. Dallas went into the game allowing
12.6 transition points per game. ... X-rays on Dirk Nowitzki's right wrist
were negative. He hurt it Monday when he got tangled up with teammate Ian
Mahinmi and Cleveland's Ryan Hollins.

甫加入小牛的Peja Stojakovic馬上就要回沙加緬度了，他在這裡待了七個球季多，
還入選了3次全明星賽。他說：我總是把這些美好的回憶放在心裡，我們在當時擁有
相當好的球隊。


菜鳥Dominique Jones的腳底最近飽受壓迫性骨折的折磨，這事發生在上禮拜。他本
季為小牛打了18場比賽，平均得到2.3分。，這意味著他會好一陣子都不會上場。


總教練Rick Carlisle今天練習的重點擺在籃板還有攻守轉換時的防守。小牛本季被
快攻得分平均為12.6分，但是對騎士時卻被得到34分。


Dirk去照了X光，結果是陰性的，應該沒有大礙。
