Scouting the Mavericks                                                   

They have won four in a row and seven of their last eight road games. … They
beat the Wizards by 10 a month ago. John Wall had 17 points and 10 assists in
that game and will be a focus of the Mavericks’ defense tonight. “We’ve
got to do a better job of containing him in transition,’’ coach Rick
Carlisle said. That was a point of emphasis in Friday’s practice, when
defense was stressed. … They haven’t been playing as much zone lately,
according to Carlisle, because “we’re a man-to-man team first and when our
man is good, we tend to stick with it.’’ … On this three-game road trip
that continues to Toronto and Philadelphia, Jason Kidd could pass Gary Payton
for third place on the all-time steals list. He needs nine thefts to do so.
He then will trail only Michael Jordan and John Stockton. He’s only 77
behind Jordan, but more than 800 behind Stockton.

It will be a new-look Wizards team with Mike Bibby, Maurice Evans and Jordan
Crawford obtained from Atlanta on Thursday before the trade deadline, with
Kirk Hinrich and Hilton Armstrong going to the Hawks. “He’s one of the best
3-point shooters ever,’’ Carlisle said of Bibby. “And he’s a real crafty
veteran who is a winner in this league.’’ He’ll also give the Wizards a
chance to ease off rookie John Wall’s heavy workload at point guard. … They
have lost nine of the last 12 times the Mavericks have visited D.C. … Wall
has been overshadowed in rookie of the year conversations by Blake Griffin,
but he has averaged more than 20 points, nine assists and five rebounds over
the last four games. … Fourth-year guard Nick Young is having a breakout
season, averaging more than 17 points per game. He has topped 30 points six
times this season, although he had only 18 on 6-of-18 shooting in the first
meeting with the Mavericks.

4年級後衛Nick Young本季有所突破，每場平均超過17分的得分， 他本季有6次得分
超過30分，雖然他上次碰到小牛18投中6只得當18分。
