Mavericks' Beaubois diagnosed with sprained foot; availability for Game 1 uncertain By BRAD TOWNSEND / The Dallas Mavericks Published 14 April 2011 10:07 PM http://tinyurl.com/3hy6np7 Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said Thursday that tests confirmed Mavericks guard Roddy Beaubois has a sprained left foot, but no further damage. “We’ll just see how he’s doing in the next couple or three days,” Carlisle said of Beaubois’ availability for Game 1 Saturday against Portland. No matter what, it appears the decision has been made to start 6-5, 220-pound DeShawn Stevenson in Beaubois’ place at two-guard, as was the case Wednesday against New Orleans. Stevenson had started 53 games prior to Beaubois’ February return from a fractured foot. Carlisle was asked whether Wednesday’s move was made in anticipation that Dallas would meet Portland, a team with big, physical guards. “It was time,” he said with a shrug. “The difference with DeShawn and Roddy, with one guy you get strength, experience and ruggedness. And with the other guy you get quickness and you get a different kind of dimension offensively. We’ve got a lot of different ways we can go.
