Mavericks' Carlisle about to join some exclusive company

Rick Carlisle is about to join some exclusive company.
In NBA history, there have been only five coaches who have guided three
different teams to the conference finals.
總教練Rick Carlisle加入了一些人的行列。

Carlisle will be the sixth.

He’ll be joining Larry Brown, George Karl, Pat Riley, Alex Hannum and one of
his mentors, Bill Fitch, as coaches who have led at least three different
franchises to a conference finals series.
他將會是繼Larry Brown、George Karl、Pat Riley、 Alex Hannum和他的其中一位
導師Bill Fitch後，第六位率領三支不同球隊打進分區決賽的總教練。
The Mavericks will meet either Oklahoma City or Memphis in the West finals,
starting Tuesday night at American Airlines Center. Carlisle also led Indiana
to the conference finals in 2004 and Detroit in 2003.
而小牛將在西區決賽碰到雷霆或灰熊， 禮拜三(台灣時間)早上八點在小牛主場開打

Brown took Denver in 1978, Indiana twice, Philadelphia in 2001 and Detroit
twice to the conference finals. Hannum was the only other coach to do it with
four teams — St. Louis, Syracuse, San Francisco and Philadelphia in the ’
50s and ’60s.
Larry Brown1978年帶領丹佛球隊，兩次帶領印地安納球隊，2001年的費城球隊，還
有兩次帶領底特律活塞打進分區決賽。而Alex Hannum是另外一位在五、六零年代帶

Karl took Seattle, Milwaukee and Denver (’08) to the conference finals.
George Karl則是率領過西雅圖、滅爾瓦基公鹿還有08年的丹佛金塊。
Riley went numerous times with the Lakers, New York Knicks (’94) and Miami (
’06).
Pat Riley多次率領湖人打進分區決賽，還有1994年的尼克，2006年的熱火。
Fitch, who gave Carlisle his first assistant coaching position with New
Jersey in 1989, took Cleveland in 1976, Boston in ’81 and Houston in ’86.
而在1989年給了Rick Carlisle生涯第一份助理教練工作的紐澤西球隊的總教練Bill
Fitch， 帶領了1989年克里夫蘭、1981年的波士頓還有1986年的休士頓打進分區決
賽。
It’s not easy to lead three different teams to the conference finals for the
simple reason that getting three different jobs isn’t all that easy. And to
have competitive teams at each stop is even tougher.
帶領三支不同球隊打進分區決賽的原因並不難理解， 三個不同的工作完全不是件簡
單的事，而這三支球隊都是要擁有具競爭力的球隊甚至是更困難的。
Carlisle has gone 8-2 in this season’s playoffs, and his career postseason
record is up to 45-43, 15-11 with the Mavericks.

小牛的成績則是15勝11敗。
No watch party: The Mavs had an optional practice Saturday and will reconvene
Sunday for a more extensive practice that will probably include a full-scale
scrimmage. Then the team will scatter for the day.
小牛在今天有個隨意的練習，而明天會再有個更大量的練習， 而這可能包刮一場完
整的練習賽，接著大家會各自解散回家。
There won’t be a team watching party for Game 7 between Memphis and Oklahoma
City.

“We’re going to practice early [Sunday],” Carlisle said Saturday. “Guys
will all watch it on their own. Some of them might get together, but we’re
not going to get together as a team and watch it. That’s a big-time
commitment, and our guys need to use this time to be with their families.”

After the Mavericks know their opponent, they will have a prep-practice on
Monday, and Tuesday will be a regular shootaround in advance of the 8 p.m.
tipoff against the Grizzlies or Thunder.
在小牛知道對手是誰之後，在禮拜一(美國時間)將會有個準備性的練習， 而禮拜二
(美國時間)將會有個正規性練習。
