Dirk will wait until January before looking outside NBA

Dirk Nowitzki has had a busy 12 months and because of that he's going to give
the NBA every chance to settle its labor dispute with players before
committing to play in another league.
Holger Geschwindner, longtime personal coach and close friend to the
Mavericks' perennial all-star and NBA Finals MVP, said Tuesday that Nowitzki
plans on waiting until January before striking any deal with a German or
other European club.
January is widely considered the drop-dead month for the NBA having to reach
a new collective-bargaining agreement and still being able to conduct a
shortened season -- presumably 50 games like the one played in 1999, the last
and only time the league has lost regular-season games because of a labor
dispute.
"Dirk will wait until January," Geschwindner said. "If the complete season
will be canceled, he has to join a team to stay in shape."
That's excellent news for the Mavericks and their fans. Since arriving for
training camp last September, Nowitzki has played almost nonstop. He led the
Mavericks to the franchise's first championship in June, then took a brief
break before joining the German national team to qualify for the 2012
Olympics in London.
That bid failed, and Nowitzki has said he will take a break from
international play.
He's also planning on using the next month or two to let his body recharge,
something that has been extremely beneficial to him in recent years. Now 33,
Nowitzki understands the need for a rest and recovery time after a long
stretch of basketball.
In that respect, the lockout could be a positive for the Mavericks and
Nowitzki. Training camps would open on Oct. 3, but that seems unlikely given
the paralyzed state of negotiations between players and management.
Mavericks' officials are not allowed to speak about players during the
lockout, which has been in place for nearly three months.
Nowitzki will be a sought-after asset by every German team and most others in
Europe if he decides to go that route.

而Dirk的恩師Geschwindner表示，Dirk目前想好好休息一兩個月，等看看NBA會不會
在明年一月開打，在那之前他不會和其他任何球隊有所接觸，但如果那時確定NBA整
個球季都沒了，那他就會考慮加入其他球隊，去維持他的狀況。
會這樣決定，主要是因為Dirk剛進NBA的第一年就是上次封館結束後的縮水球季，而
那年球季就是在1月開打，所以1月可說是視為談判的最後期限。
目前小牛官方還是不能和球員有所接觸的。
