The Mavericks are working on contingency plans if key free agents Tyson
Chandler, Caron Butler and J.J. Barea move on to other teams.

Behind the scenes, the Mavericks have a distinct pecking order of players
they want to pursue at various positions.

One of those is Jeff Foster , the 6-11 center/power forward who has spent his
career with the Indiana Pacers, including a few years playing for head coach
Rick Carlisle when he was leading the Pacers.

Foster is a free agent and has been a functional big man, particularly in
terms of rebounding and playing hard-nosed defense.

There also are a handful of point guards who could be available, such as Earl
Watson or Earl Boykins, and no, we're not on a campaign to get the Mavericks
to get more Earls on the team.

The free-agent scene is going to get frantic this weekend. Rest assured, the
Mavericks are calculating a lot of Plan B's and in some cases, some Plan C's.
