Quick ... who's NBA's best shot-blocking guard this season?

If you tried to name the Mavericks' leading shot-blocker and guessed Brendan
Haywood, you'd be right.
Unless the question is which player is the best at swatting shots in January
on a per-minute-played basis.
In that case, it's not even close.
It's Roddy Beaubois.

Yes, the 6-2 guard is averaging 3.03 blocks per 48 minutes played in January.
That ranks him 18th in theNBA and No. 1 among guards in the league by a wide
margin.

Beaubois has 15 blocks in 15 games this month. In his last five games, he's
rejected 11 shots. He had four against the Jazz on Friday.

"He's got exceptional length and quickness," coach Rick Carlisle said. "And I
think he has surprised a few people."

That element of surprise won't be there for long. Opponents no doubt are
realizing Beaubois' arms are longer than they think and he has a nice flair
for blocking opponents from the side or behind, not just from in front.
