MIAMI — Dallas guard Jason Terry has battled the Miami Heat in a pair of hotly
contested NBA Finals. Now, he's considering joining them.

Terry has been disappointed since before the season that the Mavericks did not
offer him a contract extension. So Terry will be a free agent this summer, and
the Heat intrigue him.

Jet 今年一直很美送小牛沒有給他延長合約。
今年暑假他會是自由球員。

"Miami is definitely a title contender. For sure," Terry told FOX Sports
Florida before Dallas' 106-85 loss at AmericanAirlines Arena about his
interest. "(Team president) Pat Riley is a great guy and what he's done with
the organization is tremendous.

"No question, they need a veteran shooter, a guy who can score besides LeBron
(James) and (Dwyane Wade), and they know they can count on. I'm a guy that's
been in this league 13 years, (averaging) 15 points a night, easy. Off the
bench or the starting lineup, it doesn't matter. So I think I'd be an asset to
them."

毫無疑問，火火需要一個經驗老道的射手，一個可以在LBJ和Wade身邊得分的球員

But wouldn't it be weird joining the Heat after the battles Dallas had with
them in the 2006 and the 2011 Finals, the Mavericks losing the first and
winning the second? Terry said it wouldn't.

在06年和11年兩年的總冠軍廝殺後，加入火火不會怪怪的嗎？

Jet說：不會呀。

"Not at all," said Terry, who struggled Thursday, shooting 1-of-10 for three
points. "That jersey has a logo on it. It says, 'NBA.' No matter what team it
is (that Terry is on next season), it doesn't matter. So I'll be excited."

不會啊，我的球衣上寫著NBA。
不管在哪隊打，都一樣啦。我會很興奮！

One hurdle for the combo guard joining the Heat is they only will have
available the midlevel exception for luxury-tax-paying teams, which is $3
million. But Terry, making $11.2 million this season, said he'll "let what the
market dictates" and didn't rule out being part of a sign-and-trade.

Terry's preference had been to stay with the Mavericks. But he said he will
shop himself around this summer after Dallas elected not to re-sign him before
the season in order to maintain salary cap room for this summer.

"My main goal was to come back and retire a Maverick," Terry said. "After no
extension this past offseason, I figure it may be time for me to move on. But
you never know… I would love to (continue) in a Maverick uniform, don't get me
wrong. But we'll see what happens… They said they want me back. But you can
say all you want, you got to show me. Like Jerry Maguire said, 'Show me the
money.'"

Terry said Dallas owner Mark Cuban and others in the organization were upfront
with him before the season about the Mavericks wanting to clear cap room and go
this summer after Orlando center Dwight Howard and New Jersey guard Deron
Williams. Howard has agreed to not opt out of his contract this summer but
Williams remains in play.

"They didn't even lowball me," Terry said. "They didn't want to bring anybody
back from last year… (Team officials said they're) clearing the cap as low and
we can and this summer we're going after Dwight Howard, which hasn't happened,
and Deron Williams, which they still have an opportunity."

The Mavericks' strategy became quite apparent when Tyson Chandler, J.J. Berea
and Caron Butler all left as free agents after the championship season. Terry
said that led to his saying, "What the hell is going on here?"

Wherever Terry signs, he desires a multi-year deal. Terry, 34, wants to play
past his 40th birthday.

"It's definitely a goal I set for myself whether it's here in Dallas or
somewhere else," said Terry, who keeps in great shape and has a 14.9 scoring
average that is just over one point below his career mark. "At least 42 (is the
maximum age to which Terry believes he can play). If I think 40 is good enough,
then I'll go coach at the University of Arizona. I got it mapped out."

但如果我打到40歲就想退休了，我應該會去U of Arizona(Jet母校)當教練
我都規劃好了～

Terry says he's serious about wanting to be the head coach one day at his alma
mater. With the Wildcats' current coach Sean Miller being a relatively young
43, Terry said he would be willing to pay dues as an assistant.

"That's truly and honestly my goal and I believe I can make it happen," Terry
said of one day heading the Wildcats. "You never know what can happen, but I'm
pretty sure Mr. Miller wouldn't mind having me on his staff and then when he's
doine, he can relingush his title and turn it over to me."

So Terry is figuring next decade to be Arizona's coach. Stay tuned to see if
next season he's with the Heat.
