Mark Cuban: Lamar Odom told him to "stop playing games''

Mark Cuban called the Lamar Odom divorce from the Mavericks "addition by
subtraction'' on Tuesday night before the Mavericks played Sacramento and
said Saturday's confrontation in the locker room at Memphis was the final
straw in the rocky relationship.

  在今天對國王的比賽前，Cuban把小牛和Odom的分手稱為「addition by subtraction」
  (意思是單純丟掉球員而不拿回報，卻因為化學效應的改變反而能增加球隊的實力)
  並且說星期六對灰熊比賽中，休息室裡的衝突是壓倒這殘破關係的最後一根稻草。 

Cuban said he was in the visitor's locker room Saturday and asked Odom, who
had played four pitiful first-quarter minutes, a simple question: Are you in
or are you out?
"He said: stop playing games,'' Cuban said. "I said, 'I guess you're out.' If
he doesn't want to play poker, we won't play poker. That's what I said.''

  Cuban說那時他在休息室問了第一節只打了4分鐘的Odom一個簡單的問題：

            「Are you in or are you out?」

  Odom回答：「stop playing games」 本來不知道要怎麼翻比較貼切才放原文，
                                   看了中文報導以後感覺是在說：「別玩把戲了(?)」
  Cuban便說：「I guess you're out.」      不知道對不對~"~

             「如果他不玩了，那我們就不要玩了。我是這麼說的。」

Asked if Odom really said "stop playing games,'' Cuban said: "That's what he
said.''He went on to say it was the moment he knew Odom needed to be shipped
out.
"Well, yeah. Just his response to it,'' Cuban said. "Everybody goes through
ups and downs. Every player does. We tried to put him in a position to
succeed. You guys saw it, saw what we did. It didn't work. And I just asked
him, does he want to go for it or not. Is he in or is he out? I just didn't
get a commitment. And that was the end.''

  被問到Odom是否真的說了stop playing games，Cuban說：他就是這麼說的。

  Cuban也就是在那一刻知道，必須把Odom送走。

「是呀，這就是他的答覆。每個人都會遇到高低起伏，我們試著把他放在成功的道路上，
  你們都看見了對吧？看見我們所做的，但沒有效。然後我問他到底還要不要繼續拼一
  下，我沒有得到承諾，所以這就是終點了。」

Cuban also said he would take a chance on Odom again if he had a do-over and
didn't know what he knows now. He also said he felt like the Mavericks were
winners in the deal.
"Yeah, I think the winners are us,'' he said. "He didn't want to play. He
decided to go elsewhere or do something else. Now we regroup and go forward.
So, you just take the circumstances and make the best of them.

  Cuban也說假如Odom可以重新來過，而且如果他不知道現在已經知道的事的話，
  他會願意再冒一次險。也說他覺得小牛隊在這次的談判中是贏家。

「是呀，我覺得我們是獲利的一方，他不想要打了，決定要去別的地方或做別的事。
  現在我們的團隊重新整合向前。總之就是接受現況並且妥善利用它、盡力而為。」

"You can kind of tell sometimes when a guy's not focused and ready to play.
This (Saturday night) was a big game for us, and he wasn't connecting to
that. And if you're not positive energy, you're negative energy.
Was this the first time Cuban noticed a negative energy emitting from Odom?
"No, but the first 17 times, I decided to try to help him and turn it into a
positive,'' he said. "In any deal, sometimes you're on the right end.
Sometimes, you're on the wrong end.

「當一個人不專注於準備好上場時，你多少可以看得出來，星期六晚上的比賽對我們
  來說非常重要，但他完全不在狀況內。當你不具有正面能量時，你就是負面能量。」

  這是Cuban第一次注意到Odom散發出的負面能量嗎？

「不是，但前17次我決定試著幫助他並將他轉向正面，在任何決策中，你有時候是
  朝向正確的方向，有時則不然。」

"Did I get my money's worth? No. I don't know that the word's 'cheated.'
 But did I get my money's worth? No.''

「我花的錢值得嗎？不，我不知道是不是被騙了，但我覺得這錢花的不值得。」

As for the benefit of dumping Odom, Cuban said: "We hope it's addition by
subtraction. Just put him in the Tariq Abdul-Wahad category and move on.''
Odom has not responded to repeated email attempts requesting his comments.

  談到把Odom丟掉的好處，Cuban說：

 「希望這是個addition by subtraction，把他分在Tariq Abdul-Wahad那一類然後
   繼續前進吧！」

  對此，已對Odom再三用email試著取得聯繫，但並沒有獲得回應。
