Shawn Marion adjusting to return to PF


CHICAGO -- Much has been made of Shawn Marion's sudden bench time in recent
fourth quarters and his statistical drop-off as coach Rick Carlisle makes
adjustments to life after Lamar Odom.

Once again Saturday night, Vince Carter received the majority of
fourth-quarter minutes, limiting Marion to just four minutes without a point
or a rebound in the final period. Overall, Marion played 30:33 in the 93-83
loss to the Chicago Bulls and Carter played nearly 29 minutes.

Marion finished with six points and six rebounds and has scored six points or
fewer in four of the last five games. He's grabbed more than six rebounds
(seven) just once in that span after going five consecutive games with
double-digit rebounds and 11 of 12 games with at least nine boards.

Perhaps the club's four-day break before Thursday's season finale comes at a
good time for Marion to catch a rest before the start of the playoffs.

"I don't think he's tired, but I do think the dynamics of our team have
changed a little bit since our roster situation changed a couple weeks ago
and he's one of the guys that's adjusting to that," coach Rick Carlisle said.
"I like the way he played [Saturday]. I don't read anything into the fact
that his stats may be a little down in recent games. He's a proven playoff
warrior and he'll be ready to play."

The 6-foot-7 Marion has returned to his role from last season in which he
starts at small forward and shifts to power forward when Dirk Nowitzki subs
out. Odom had been the backup power forward and that kept Marion throughout
games at small forward, where thrived, leading the team in rebounding.

Carter has embraced his role of logging additional minutes at small forward,
using it to be an aggressor and creating for himself with strong drives to
the basket. He matched his season best with four consecutive games in double
figures while averaging 18.8 points.

In the fourth quarter against the Bulls, Marion and Carter played together
for a little more than two minutes midway through the quarter before Nowitzki
returned, sliding Marion back to small forward.

Even though he split his time last season, Marion said the sudden change has
been adjustment.

"A little bit, a little bit," the versatile Marion said. "I haven't played it
all year. It's been cool, it's been cool."

在Odom離隊之前  他跟Dirk分PF的時間
而Marion主打SF  而且打的不錯  目前還是隊上的籃板王
不過在Odom離開之後  卡帥可能會要他回去打PF
部分原因也是因為最近第四節的陣容常常擺VC上來打SF搶分
儘管去年Marion也是兼職打SF與PF  但他對於突如其來的轉變還是需要適應
小牛會在這四天的空檔調整陣容  球隊也絕對會需要他在季後賽的貢獻
