Mavs still interested in West, who has “other options on the table”

Mavericks vice president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said that the
addition of O.J. Mayo does not close the door on the team’s interest in
bringing back point guard Delonte West.

The Mavericks were about $4 million under the salary cap before adding Mayo.
Now they are slightly over the cap, but they have a $2.5 million “room
exception” they could use in order to sign West. Or, they could get back
under the cap by waiving a player currently under contract and spreading that
player’s salary cap hit over three years.

“D-West has other options on the table he’s going through,” Nelson said
Tuesday afternoon. “We are still interested in bringing him back.”
