Mavericks have agreement in principle with Monta Ellis

Two days after the Mavericks said they didn’t see much chance of adding to
their already crowded backcourt, it appears that Monta Ellis is on the verge
of signing with them.
兩天前小牛說簽Ellis的機會不大，但現在他們達成簽約的默契了。
The 6-3 Ellis, who played with Milwaukee last season and is a career
19.4-point scorer, is the top remaining name on the free agent board. Two
sources said he is going to sign a three-year deal that likely will eat up
most, if not all, of the Mavericks’ remaining salary-cap space and be worth
roughly $30 million over three years.

The Mavericks, it appears, are intrigued by the pairing of Ellis and Jose
Calderon in the backcourt, and believe that they could form a very
complimentary tandem.
小牛似乎對於Calderon-Ellis組合很有興趣，認為他們會是互補的一組。
It’s becoming clear that the Mavericks are interested in adding all the
quality assets they can get their hands on this summer, regardless of the
position they play. While centers have rebuffed them, their guard crew now
has plenty of names – all of them except Vince Carter new from last season.
愈來愈清楚的跡象顯示小牛正在搜刮今夏市場上所有他們能簽到的戰力，並且無視於

The Mavericks already have Jose Calderon, Devin Harris, Wayne Ellington, Gal
Mekel, Shane Larkin and Ricky Ledo in the backcourt, as well as Carter, who
can split time at shooting guard and small forward.

If Ellis comes on board, playing small will be an absolute certainty most of
the time.

Ellis, 27, has been a favorite of Dirk Nowitzki’s and the Mavericks have
long had an interest in the former Golden State Warrior.
27歲的Ellis在勇士時期曾讓Dirk和小牛感興趣。
On Wednesday, when the Mavericks introduced rookies Larkin, Ledo and Mekel to
media members, president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said when
asked if more backcourt help might be on the way: “Probably a long shot. We
got a pretty full backcourt.”
星期三在介紹新秀的記者會中，小尼說簽Ellis機會不大，後場人手充足

With Ellis, it would get even fuller. And better. Ellis is a career
45.6-percent shooter, although he hits only 31.8 percent from 3-point range.
He’s been a good penetrator and can work well off the pick-and-roll. He’s
not much of a defender, but his offensive skills make him a dangerous player
that defenses have to account for.
小牛有了Ellis，後場人手就更足，也更好了，Ellis生涯命中率45.6%，雖然3分只有32%
他是好的切入者，也可以打擋拆，他不是好的防守者，但他進攻的威脅性可以讓人比較
不那麼批評他的防守。
