Lakers-Mavericks Preview


As they continue adjusting to the addition of Rajon Rondo, the Dallas
Mavericks might find their way by replicating last month's performance
against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Mavericks can avoid a season-high third straight loss Friday night with a
fifth consecutive victory over the Lakers, who are likely to again be without
Kobe Bryant.

Dallas (20-10) has its sights set on the franchise's second title in five
seasons after acquiring Rondo from Boston in a five-player trade Dec. 18. The
four-time All-Star point guard is averaging an NBA-best 10.6 assists.

The Mavericks, however, haven't benefited from the move since Saturday's
99-93 home win over San Antonio in Rondo's debut. They've followed up with a
105-102 loss to Atlanta on Monday and a 124-115 defeat at Phoenix the next
night.

Rondo's 10.7 points and 9.3 assists per game with Dallas aren't far off his
season averages, but he's totaled 14 fouls on the defensive end. Opposing
starting point guards also have scored a combined 61 points in the three
contests.

Rondo had 13 points, eight assists, six rebounds and five turnovers before
fouling out with 1:37 to play Tuesday.

"We're three games in (with Rondo)," coach Rick Carlisle said after his team
committed a season-high 20 turnovers. "Three games in four days. We've got
more work to do. When you have a couple of games like we've had the last two
nights it feels like you're light years away, but we're a lot closer than it
feels. We've just got to stick with it."

Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis and Chandler Parsons were a combined 23 of 33 from
the field for 64 points and Dallas set season highs in points, shooting
percentage (62.2) and assists (37) in a 140-106 home win over Los Angeles on
Nov. 21.

上次兩隊對戰時，Dirk Nowitzki、Monta Ellis與Chandler Parsons

Nowitzki has averaged 25.7 points on 70.5 percent shooting in his last three
matchups with the Pacific Division-worst Lakers. He's also just five points
shy of tying Elvin Hayes for eighth on the NBA career scoring list.

Ellis, though, has totaled 33 points while shooting 13 for 39 in the last two

Los Angeles (9-20) is expected to be without Bryant for a third straight game
due to soreness in his knees, Achilles tendons, feet and back. The
36-year-old, in his 19th NBA season, cited "old age" and says he needs to
"reset my body."

113-93 victory on Christmas Day. Wesley Johnson finished with a team-high 19
points and nine rebounds despite shooting 6 for 18, while Ed Davis added 13
points and a team-best 14 boards.

The Lakers, however, are likely to have their hands full defensively after
giving up 108.0 points per game while dropping four of five. The Mavericks
average an NBA-best 109.6 and have put up 120.0 per game during their run in
this series.

然而湖人的防守還是最大的問題，最近五場比賽他們輸了四場，
平均讓對手得到108.0分，而小牛的平均得分是聯盟最佳的109.6
分，也在最近對上湖人的連勝中平均得到120.0分。
