The Miami Heat is putting final touches on a two-year contract with
free-agent guard Shaun Livingston.
Livingston, who recently had met with the Portland Trail Blazers and
Minnesota Timberwolves, has not played since February 2007 due to a major
knee injury.
The 6-foot-7 playmaker, whose knee surgery was performed by renowned
orthopedist James Andrews, also has had the knee checked and cleared by Heat
team physician Harlan Selesnick.
Livingston is in South Florida, undergoing his Heat physical.

Riley is 'hopeful' but Livingston a 'dead issue'
The expectation from the Livingston camp is that the 2004 Los Angeles
Clippers first-round pick will be able to get on the court at some point this
season. Livingston, in fact, had been cleared to test his left knee late last
season, although he never made it to the court.
The second year of Livingston's contract involves an option, although a
decision on that 2009-10 portion of the deal likely would be settled well in
advance of next season.
Livingston is represented by Chicago-based Henry Thomas, who also represents
Heat guard Dwyane Wade.
