Rockets to keep guard Taylor, won't sign center Dampier

The Rockets told second-year guard Jermaine Taylor on Sunday they would not
release him because they no longer planned to sign center Erick Dampier,
Taylor’s agent Michael Whitaker said before Sunday’s game.

“I was actually told that I’m here to stay,” Taylor said. “They told me I
was here.

“I’m happy to still be here and still have a job, but then again, I kind of
wonder what would have happened if I went somewhere else. I won’t get any
playing time here with guys like Courtney Lee, Kevin Martin, unless they get
hurt. I kind of know if I went somewhere else, I would have had a chance to
play. I have mixed feelings about it.”

Taylor said he regretted sending a tweet last week saying he felt he had been
lied to because it was assumed to have been directed at the Rockets. He said
it was actually meant for his agent, Michael Whitaker, who had been telling
him when he would hear news.
