Eddie House doesn’t know what he’s done wrong, all he knows is he’s gone
from contributor to spectator.
Going into Wednesday night’s game against the Utah Jazz at EnergySolutions
Arena, the Miami Heat veteran 3-point specialist had been held out of the
previous two games and appeared for a total of 24 minutes in the three games
before that.
“I’m just as baffled and dumbfounded as everybody else,” he said after
Wednesday’s shootaround. “It’s not like I played myself out of the
rotation. My numbers don’t look like, ‘OK, I could see why.’ ”
Instead, coach Erik Spoelstra has stuck with James Jones as the team’s
3-point specialist and worked Mario Chalmers into the rotation because of
superior ballhandling skills to those of House.
“It’s just a decision he made and that’s what he feels,” House said. “So
you’ve got to roll with it. Of course, as a competitor you want to be out
there, but if you start letting stuff like that affect you as a professional,
then you stop doing the things so you could be prepared.”
Spoelstra said the rotation remains fluid.
“Our team is a unique team,” Spoelstra said. “I viewed everybody as a
rotation player. At some point, we’re going to need everybody.”
