NTU Multi-Language Exchange Our objective: Learning a language can be a costly undertaking, especially when it comes to writing and speaking practice. Good written materials and online audio and video resources are easily available in many languages, so reading and listening practice in the target language can be done on one's own without too much help from others. Writing and speaking practice, on the other hand, require someone to give you feedback and corrections. Privately-arranged one-to-one language exchanges are free, but their effectiveness is limited. Our objective is to offer, at minimum expense, a flexible platform for language exchange that focuses on speaking ability. Through diverse activities, members can spend pleasant hours not just their polishing language skills but also making friends. We invite everybody interested to come and enjoy the activities of our club - and to bring your friends! Club activities: 1. Conversation in different languages: Club members choose a group in which their target language, e.g. English or French, is spoken. Each group is assigned a leader who excels in the target language, and who provides topics and materials for discussion. Club members are free to join different groups based on their needs and interests. Group members are expected to communicate only in the target language of the group they have joined. Through this exchange, group members can learn new words, expressions, and correct grammatical usage in the target language, and maybe pick up some interesting cultural background as well. 2. Language exchanges: For those wishing to practice their Chinese, the club can help set up an individual language exchange with a club member or members. 3. Language Courses: The club will offer a variety of language courses taught by skilled club members or non-member instructors. Club Advisor: Karen S. Chung, Instructor, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, NTU Our club advisor is Karen Chung, an instructor in the Foreign Language Department of NTU with a PhD from Leiden University, the Netherlands. Originally from Minnesota (USA), she has been interested in language and languages, now including German, Spanish, French, and Chinese, since childhood. She will do her best to use her passion for and training in languages to offer useful guidance and encouragement to club members. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.231.9.239 ※ 編輯: Akali 來自: 218.160.177.208 (12/27 22:19)
