Theo Ratliff to join the Detroit Pistons
The Timberwolves waived center Theo Ratliff on Thursday night, after
agreeing to buy out the remainder of his $11.6 million contract. Ratliff is
expected to sign with the Pistons once he clears waivers.

Brent Barry chooses to return to Spurs
Brent Barry has decided to return to the Spurs this season, according to
Phoenix Suns general manager Steve Kerr.
Oops. An earlier report, citing "unnamed sources", said that Barry had ruled
out a return to the Spurs. He can't sign with the team that released him
until March 21st and should only provide threes when he gets back.

Caron Butler could return in 1-3 weeks
The Wizards are optimistic that Caron Butler (labral tear in left hip) will
be able to play after an unspecified period of rest, approximately 1-3 weeks.
There is no official timetable for his return.
Kudos to diligent beat reporter Ivan Carter, who noted that surgery was never
mentioned as an option. Butler will be examined again next week, giving
Andray Blatche solid value for at least a few more games.

Brandon Roy doubtful for Friday's game
Brandon Roy is doubtful to play on Friday because he still has pain in his
sprained right ankle.
If Roy doesn't play, coach Nate McMillan said he will once again start Steve
Blake, Martell Webster, Travis Outlaw, LaMarcus Aldridge and Joel Przybilla.
One bit of good news for the Blazers is that James Jones is likely to make
his return on Friday.

Sam Cassell to sign with Celtics
The Clippers bought out Sam Cassell's contract on Thursday, allowing him to
sign with the Boston Celtics once he clears waivers.
Cassell will backup Rajon Rondo and could cut into his minutes. Sam is
unlikely to see much of a boost in production but should be watched closely
in deep leagues. The Clippers are expected to sign guard Flip Murray to shore
up the point guard spot -- Brevin Knight (out w/ hand injury) and Dan Dickau
are both worth a flier in deep leagues.
