Nelson likely to have season-ending surgery
According to Magic GM Otis Smith, Jameer Nelson is likely to opt for
season-ending surgery on his torn labrum in his right shoulder.
The Magic are expected to announce next week that Nelson will undergo an
arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder that will require six months of
rehabilitation. "You can rehab it and still play, but that's usually when
it's the off (nonshooting) shoulder," Smith said. "He goes down four or five
times a game and that shoulder just wouldn't hold up...We can't let him play
through this." It's probably safe to cut Nelson, but official word is still
not expected until next week.
