The Kings waived forward Drew Gooden on Sunday, prior to the league's
deadline for waived players to be playoff-eligible, according to Kings'
president Geoff Petrie.
"It's something going forward that we think made sense for us given where we
are, and it made sense for him," Petrie said this evening by cell phone. "It
got done about 25 minutes ago." He could land in Cleveland, although they are
rumored to have all-but signed Joe Smith, and San Antonio is the other
rumored destination. If he can heal from a groin injury and possible hernia,
he could end up being serviceable for fantasy owners in either location.
