Paul Pierce has an infection in his right knee that required a medical procedure Wednesday. He has no structural damage, but is expected to
be sidelined for about two weeks.
Pierce started experiencing discomfort in his knee after Tuesday's game
against the Pacers, and team owner Wyc Grousbeck said the knee required
draining, but not surgery. Still, Pierce will definitely miss the team's
upcoming four-game road trip, and at this point, Jan. 6 looks like the
most likely date for his return. Tony Allen should benefit most from
Pierce's absence, but all other Celtics players will need to step up
their production as well.
