Professor周行一
Business Administration Department
National Chengchi University
Dear Professor Chow,
I am writing to you on behalf of McKinsey & Company, a global management
consulting firm. Since 1926, our primary mission has been to help leading
corporations and institutions make distinctive, lasting and substantial
improvements in their performance, while at the same time, to build a great
firm that attracts, develops, excites, and retains exceptional people.
Our Greater China office in Taipei is hosting a mentorship program to help
students get ready for post-graduate life and gain a better understanding of
how McKinsey works - the spectrum of our practices, the experience of how we
conduct team building, our approach to building knowledge, and McKinsey’s
distinctive problem solving approach. As an integral part of the Taiwanese
community, we would like to use this opportunity to work with university
professors together to develop the next generation of talents.
The Mentorship Program will last for 6 months, and our consultants will be
mentoring them based on a 1:4 ratio. In addition to mentors sharing their
McKinsey experience with mentees and coaching them on developing a career
path, there will be training and social programs. All these activities will
not conflict with their class schedule.
As the dean of Business Administration department of National Chengchi
University, we believe you are in the best position to help us identify the
best and the most motivated students in Taiwan. We would like to ask you to
recommend five of your students to join this mentorship program based on the
following criteria.
¶ Outstanding academic records and achievements in extracurricular activities
¶ Demonstrated leadership ability
¶ Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Chinese
¶ Strong problem solving ability and creativity
¶ Graduating in 2009 and an interest in pursuing a career in consulting.
With your recommendation, students will be placed on the fast track of the
application process.
It would be great if you could give us the names of your students with their
contact information by May 23, 2008. Please contact Shu-Ling Hsu, our
recruiter (shu-ling_hsu@mckinsey.com), or Joshua Lan, our Business Analyst at
the Taipei Office (joshua_lan@mckinsey.com) for any further clarifications
Yours faithfully,
Associate Principal
Jerry Liu
