To my image, Berlin is a highly ordered metropolies. But what's the result
to the fact? According to the surveying data offered by the local police
bureau of Berlin, the guilty rate appears a tendency of increasing. Most of
the crimes are theft cases, and then the drug-dealing cases & the forgery
cases. As to the criminal grouping, domestic Germans stay in a great
percentage, and then the Yugoslavian immigrants. Polish people & the
Vietnameses are both the third most, and the Turkish decendants the fourth.
Such phenomenon is no strange or accidental. The citizen structures of Berlin
are definitely complex. Berlin, the largest city of central Europe, is simply
a melting pot, like the city-state, Singapore, which is mainly composed of the
Chinese immigrants from Fujen province & Guangdong province, and Indians &
Malay aboriginals in minor. Some had ever said that Berlin is the second
largest Turkish city, and the largest is Ankara (or Istanbul), while Montreal
(capital of the Quebec province in Canada) is the second largest French city,
and Paris the largest one.
What does the title, "Painting on the Berlin Wall" mean? Painting is
originally the semiculture among the youths in the low Negro communities in
the United States. Teenagers painted on the billboards in the subway stations,
the block streets, or even the iron curtains of the factories. Since the
historical time that the Berlin Wall collapsed in 1989 and Germany reunited,
Berlineses from western area to eastern area bursted out painting on the
broken walls in a mad, so as to release their emotions for almost 40 years.
Similarly a standing wall, the Wailing Wall of the Hebrews (or Jews) in Isreal
brings the religion & hopes, but the Berlin Wall sets up distrusts & hatreds,
so their destinies are different & opposite.
Even experienced glories and suffered from great catastrophes, the Victory
Goddess standing on the top of the Brendenberg Gate, which is compared with
the Triumph Gate in Paris, still stands steadily & is filled with high morale.
