我寫信邀請老師一同來參與我們星期四中午的練球

為避免大家到打網區的時間不固定

我跟老師說大家是12點半練球


以下是老師的回信

為避免我的翻譯失真

所以也將老師的原文波出來

讓大家看看


原則上老師希望星期四能盡量來參與我們練球 如果他並沒有課或是開會等行程的話

他希望能趁練球時與大家有交談的機會

因為比賽前或比賽時大家都會比較心事凝重

但他並不會主動的提出建議 除非大家主動的問他

而且老師覺得他年輕時已經有許多比賽的經驗

他希望不要搶走大家年輕的時候所擁有的比賽機會

所以原則上他不會下場打比賽

他推薦我們能找林志冠學長來打

相信學長能給我們很不錯的指導


最後老師提到星期六比賽時有些明顯可避免的錯誤

像是跑壘、姿勢、速度..等

但他深信大家都十分具有打棒球的天分

希望星期四能見到大家！！


I will try to attend practice this week, as I've no classes or meetings
scheduled for Thursday.

I think it would be better to talk with the players during practice; just
before or during games, everyone's attention is preoccupied.

In general: I won't give advice, unless I'm asked, and I'm reluctant to
play in games, because I had many such opportunities when I was young--my
high school and college teams played 30 to 40 games per season, likewise for
American Legion and other adult baseball leagues in which I played. I had my
chances when I was young, so I don't want to take opportunities away from
those who are young now.

I do encourage you to make a role for Mr. 林 on the team though, both
because he is a good player and because he is a good man.  I think he would
help improve the team's quality of play in several aspects.  38 may seem
old, but he is 12 years younger than me and he knows the game well.

I was pleased with what I saw Saturday.  There were some obvious mistakes
that could have been avoided--especially in running the bases, working the
count, anticipating plays, pacing, positioning, etc.--but I believe the team
has sufficient talent and intensity to play serious, competitive baseball.
 I hope to see you Thursday.
