Dear Jessup Team Contacts, Coaches, Administrators, and Other Friends,
In a moment, I am going to email to each of you the first batch of
Basic
Materials for the 2004 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court
Competition. Before I do, I渇 like to make a couple of comments.
1. THE BASIC MATERIALS
If you do not receive the Basic Materials within the next couple of
hours,
it means that your email box is incapable of taking such a large
document.
In such case, I would recommend that you go to the ILSA Jessup website,
at
http://www.ilsa.org/jessup/ and download it directly from there. If
you are
unable to download it from there, email me, and I will send you the
Basic
Materials one at a time.
This first batch of Basic Materials was chosen by the authors and
organizers
of the Competition. In December, we will send out a second batch. The
second batch is based upon requests and recommendations by competitors.
If
you find any useful articles, or if you would like us to send you an
article
that might not be available in your library, please email me, and I
will see
if I can include it in the December batch.
There has been some confusion in the past, so I will explain again now:
Do
NOT restrict your research to only the Basic Materials. You should
also do
your own research.
National Administrators: Please forward the Basic Materials to all
teams in
your jurisdiction.
2. REGISTRATION DEADLINES
The deadline for U.S. registration is this Friday, November 7. US
teams may
still register until November 24, but a late fee applies. We will
announce
US Regional assignments in late November.
The deadline for all other teams (except where a national rule provides
differently) is November 24. You may still register until December 22,
but
a late fee applies.
National Competitions outside the United States will be held in all
countries where more than one team is competing. If you are competing
from
outside the United States, and do not yet know who your National
Competition
Administrator is, please email me, and I will put you in touch with
them.
3. CLARIFICATIONS
Requests for Clarifications to the Problem are due this Friday,
November 7.
To date, I have received very few requests for clarifications. (I hope
that
this means the Problem is very clear.) You may email your Requests to
me,
or fax them to the office. We will review all requests, and post an
official notice of Clarifications and Corrections on November 18.
4. OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE COMPETITION
As always, you can find information about the Competition ?including
registration forms, the Jessup Problem, and other data ?on the ILSA
website, at http://www.ilsa.org/jessup.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
