埃及是文明古國，西元前40年，埃及人就能觀察星象了，他們發現天狼星和太陽一
同升起，尼羅河水立時上漲。埃及把尼羅河漲水的這一天作為新年的開始，稱為"漲水新
年"。埃及的克魯特人迎接新年，在門口放一張桌子，七八隻碟子供著大豆、扁豆、紫苜
蓿和小麥的顆粒，還有好些綠色植物的小芽，這象徵豐裕。獻給神的東西越多，新年的收
成就越多。埃及的新年在秋天，因埃及的農業生產是從秋季開始的。
