補充介紹：
Elgar的威風凜凜進行曲一共寫了五首，以第一號最廣為人知
其名稱「Pomp and Circumstance」乃借用莎士比亞四大悲劇中的奧賽羅(Othello)
第三幕第三場景的著名台詞
第一號作品在1901年發表後大獲成功，中段的Trio主題
更被當時的英國國王-愛德華七世建議應填入歌詞
此時Elgar正在為翌年的加冕儀式寫作頌歌「Coronation Ode」
於是便將這段音樂放入「Coronation Ode」中，作為終曲(第六段)的副歌旋律
由A. C. Benson填詞，標題題作「Land of Hope and Glory」
副歌的歌詞如下：
Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free,
How shall we extol thee, who are born of thee?
Wider still and wider shall thy bounds be set;
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet,
God, who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet.
時至今日，「Land of Hope and Glory」成為一首膾炙人口的英格蘭愛國歌曲
在國際的橄欖球賽事中，英格蘭隊常以此曲代替國歌
而根據2006年BBC的一項調查，有55%的英格蘭民眾認為
跟現行的聯合王國官方國歌「God Save the Queen」相比
他們更希望以「Land of Hope and Glory」作為他們的國歌
