Abstract
For developing biologically supported models of carcinogenesis, in this
lecture we present and discuss some basic results of molecular biology on
carcinogenesis. These biological results include stem cells and the 8 basic
hallmarks for carcinogenesis proposed by Hanahan and Weinberg (Cell, 2011).
We also discuss some population genetic aspect of carcinogenesis to involve
hereditary cancer cases. Then we propose some important stochastic models for
human carcinogenesis. These models include multiple pathways models as well
as mixture models. We will illustrate these models by some human cancers
including colon cancer and liver cancer.
