簡單的大意是說,NFL在1966年11月1號確定在New Orleans成立新球隊. 而11月1號剛好是
羅馬天主教的All Saints' Day(萬聖節Halloween就是All Saints' Day的前夕, hallow =
saints = 聖徒, een = eve = 前夕),所以就把隊名取為Saints.
隊徽前面有人提過是fleur-de-lis,在歐洲各皇家貴族的徽章上常可以看到. 最常被用的意
義為"君權"的象徵,尤其是法國王室. 因此會被曾為法國殖民地的New Orleans引用. 在宗
教上他又是"三位一體",大天使Gabriel和聖母瑪麗亞的象徵,加起來就是New Orleans
Saints了.
