[NCAA] Colorado to PAC-10 (to be announced on Friday)

It's a done deal.

The University of Colorado will announce at an 11 a.m. Friday press
conference that the school will leave the Big 12 and join the Pac-10.

Multiple sources confirmed the deal to the Camera early Thursday, and league
officials are scheduled to be in Boulder on Friday for the announcement.

The coach said it's possible the Pac-16 would push for two automatic bids to
the BCS, one for each division champion. That potential bonanza could open
the possibility of the two division champs from one league playing for the
national title, and it would eliminate the need for a conference championship
game.
"The Pac-10 doesn't believe in a championship game," the coach said. "And
coaches in the Big 12 don't like it anyway."



I thought OU would like conference champion...

Texas and ATM will meet today about "preserving natural regional rivalries"

The meeting today between athletics department officials of Texas and Texas
A&M is with the intent of preserving the two team's natural regional
rivalries and is not about breaking apart or maintaining a non-conference
game between the two schools, according to a trusted source with historic
ties to the Texas Men's Athletics Department. The heart of any new conference
schedule will remain the traditional rivalries between Texas, Texas A&M and
Texas Tech, with Oklahoma and Oklahoma State added to that mix.

The source also said that both Nebraska to the Big Ten and Colorado to the
Pac-10 are "done deals". (UPDATE: The Pac-10 just issued a press release
announcing Colorado as the 11th member of the league, so it is literally a
done deal with the Buffaloes.) Colorado, weary of the legislative forces that
thrust Baylor into the Big 12 in the 90s, wanted to preempt anything the
Texas legislature could do this time around to compel the Pac-10 to make a
choice between the two schools, the source said. Further, those at the
highest levels of Baylor's administration believe the Buffs' move has sunk
the Waco school's chances of landing in the Pac-10.

Expect that Baylor officials and sympathetic lawmakers will continue to make
noise about blocking a potential move of the state's big three programs, but
as we reported yesterday, the political power and will is simply not there
for the Bears to get another free ride.

The source reiterated that what Texas wanted and expected up until this week
was that the Big 12 would remain intact. That no longer appears to be an
option.

Texas President Powers contacts regent regarding conference realignment

According to a source with historic ties to the Men's Athletics Department,
Texas President Bill Powers has contacted each member of the Texas Board of
Regents individually and will continue to do that as this realignment
situation unfolds (so there is an informal, unofficial conversation going on
to keep the Regents in the loop but no official Board meeting scheduled as of
yet), including today's meeting between Texas and Texas A&M athletics
department officials.

這個我也有聽說 Baylor宗教因素決定了PAC-10的機會

聽說BYU 也是同樣因素所以進不去PAC-10

可是到底是為什麼Cal 或是整個PAC-10 這麼排斥宗教學校?
