Report: Rob Gronkowski’s Arm Broken In Different Place Than Prior Injury

BOSTON (CBS) — When Rob Gronkowski left Sunday’s playoff game, many
questioned the Patriots’ decision to play him if his broken forearm was not
fully healed. A new report, however, says that Gronkowski’s arm was indeed
healed and that the new injury “had nothing to do” with that injured arm
not being ready for contact.

Citing a source, CSNNE’s Tom E. Curran reported Tuesday that the bone
fracture that took place Sunday night happened at the end of the protective
plate that had been placed on Gronkowksi’s arm. When Gronkowski underwent
surgery on Monday, his original break was “fully healed and was intact.

The report says that the plate that had been placed in Gronkowski’s arm
presents a risk, though the fact that the break took place now as opposed to
“three years from now” is just an instance of bad timing for Gronkowski and
the Patriots.

Head coach Bill Belichick was asked Sunday after the game if he had any
regrets about playing Gronkowski.

“He wouldn’t have played if he wasn’t [ready to play],” Belichick said. “
The doctors handle the medical decisions.”
