The 3rd Conference on Language, Discourse and Cognition (CLDC 2009) Call for Papers Theme: Quantitative Approach to Language Deadline: December 31, 2008 The 3rd Conference on Language, Discourse and Cognition (CLDC 2009) will be held on May 2-3, 2009 on the main campus of National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan. The aim of this conference is to bring together researchers interested in discourse and cognition to exchange research findings and foster the development of research in these areas. We welcome contributions to all aspects of language study, with a special focus on the interface of discourse, language and cognition. Submissions are cordially welcome in all areas related to language, discourse and cognition. Specifically, we invite abstracts including, but not limited to, the following fields: - Quantitative Approach Form of Presentation: Each paper will be allotted thirty minutes (20 minutes for presentation plus 10 minutes for discussion). Submission Guidelines: Abstracts should be written in English. They are limited to two A4 pages in 12-point font with 1" margins, including references, data and examples. Abstracts should be formatted as MS-WORD files (in ASCII) and must be anonymous. Please attach a separate page containing the following information: 1. author's name in Chinese and English 2. author's affiliation and title in Chinese and Englis 3. author's e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers 4. title of paper in English 5. three to five keywords An author may submit at most one single and one joint abstract. In the case of joint authorship, one e-mail address should be designated for communication with CLDC 2009. Submissions should describe original and unpublished work and should not be under review elsewhere. They will be reviewed according to their relevance to the conference theme, clarity of presentation, novelty of idea, and expected impact on future research within the area of focus.
