Actully I've been teaching the controversy between fiat money and commodity
reserve currency, a debate dated back at least to Hayek and Keynes in
(Economic Journal) 1943, and later rejoined by Friedman in 1951 (JPE).
This is a very interesting topic, but I still have no good answer to it.
