WHAT IS GLOBAL MARKETS?
Barclays’ Global Markets Division offers strategic advice and provides
investment services to leading international corporate, institutional and
governmental clients a full range of asset classes, all around the world. It
is also the area where we research and work out trading strategies for the
financial markets, execute and risk-manage sales and trades for major
clients. Global Markets is a dynamic mixture of well-established business
areas and they are:
‧ Sales: Working closely with high-profile institutional and corporate
clients with capital to invest, including banks, asset managers, pension
funds, hedge funds, central banks and insurance companies
‧ Trading (including Structuring): Working very closely with the sales teams
to make sure we meet the clients' needs, this area covers areas as diverse as
equities, bonds, commodities, derivatives, fixed income and foreign exchange
THE SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME
The Barclays Summer Internship Programme is designed to provide our summer
interns with broad exposure to the businesses. This 10-week intensive
programme consists of real and practical work assignments that allow you to
participate and contribute to real meetings and research projects. We also
emphasize on balancing work through a variety of corporate events and social
community events that enable you to build a vital network of colleagues and
friends. The goal of the summer program is to provide a solid base and
experience in Global Markets, and an opportunity to confirm your career
aspirations.
Global Markets interns perform a variety of roles in the business such as
Sales and Trading (including Structuring). Throughout the programme, you will
learn from banking professionals and gain hands-on experience. You will find
out what helps people to flourish in Barclays too.
Available Location: Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei
WHAT DOES BARCLAYS LOOK FOR IN A SUMMER INTERN?
‧ Strong verbal, quantitative, and analytical skills
‧ Equipped with fast-rate communication and interpersonal skills
‧ Resourcefulness, team orientation, enthusiasm, and an entrepreneurial
spirit
‧ Strong interest in business and finance (no specific major or path of
study is required)
