Local Category Specialist - Taipei (Temporary)

【工作內容】
Flexible, analytical and experienced local category specialists
help Google create effective Local Search business categories for
Google Maps. These categories are used to answer user queries and
provide a powerful browse and explore mechanism. Ultimately this
helps improve the search quality of Google Maps. Google local
category specialists come from a wide range of backgrounds;
many have experience in translation, classification or taxonomy
and all have an interest in improving the local search quality
of Google products.
Responsibilities:
· Using tools built for this project, review the types of businesses
Internet users search for and give names to the proper categories
for those businesses
· Document and index the category names in a spreadsheet
· Research, edit and create business categories; analyze query terms
· Provide explanations of the categories and synonyms in Chinese for
business categories
· Interact with English-speaking international offices, taking
feedback and improving business categorizations based on that feedback
【徵求條件】
· Fully fluent in both Traditional Chinese and English
· Extensive experience with daily Taiwan life, culture and the language
· Experience translating from English to Traditional Chinese
· Experience with indexing, categorization or language study
(e.g., Master of Library Science, Linguistics, comparative literature,
social science, biology)
· Computer savvy: Strong understanding of search engines, Office
applications and spreadsheets
· Work under an NDA with access to Google proprietary search data
· Availability to work full-time for approximately 6 weeks - starting in May 2009

9:00 am - 18:00 pm
