All points in the curve are of the form (x,x^2+2x+3), hence the function of
"square of distence" from (-8,0) to the curve is
d(x) = (x+8)^2 + (x^2+2x+3)^2.
Hence if you want to find the shortest distance, you may derivate d(x),
and find the global minimal. (Remember to take the square root.)

: Let f(x)=x + 1/(1+x) Let L be the tangent line of f(x) at the point(a,f(a))
: ,where a>1 Find the area of the triangle bounded by the lines L,y=x,&x=1
1. Find the tangent line L.
2. Find the intersection points of L, y=x, and x=1. (three points)
3. Compute the area. (The answer is a function of "a").
