Dear Sir or Madam,
I am the coordinator/manager of a wild animal rescue centre in Ecuador. Santa
Martha Rescue Centre is an NGO that is dedicated to help rescue wild animals
from illegal situations and maltreatment. We work closely with the
Environmental Police and the Environmental Ministry to save these wild
animals. We nurse them back to health, and then transfer the healthy ones to
a rehabilitation and release centre, while the ones that cannot be released
are accommodated in the centre, often for the rest of their lives. We provide
them with a comfortable life with healthy diet, veterinary care, and make
sure that they have enclosures as large and natural as possible.
We also lay great emphasis on public education and hence regularly accept
visitors including foreign travelers and local school groups to whom we
explain about our animals, our work and also about the importance of habitat
and wildlife conservation in general. We receive thousands of visitors each
year and we also visit schools, colleges and universities as well as do other
public appearances in order to increase public awareness.
We have over 100 animals including retiles such as Galapagos tortoises and
boas, pumas, jaguars, bears, ocelots, monkeys, eagles and many other birds
and mammals. Volunteers work very closely with the animals, feeding, cleaning
and providing veterinary care to them. Since we are a NGO we receive no money
other than what our volunteers bring in so our existence depends on having
enough volunteers to keep the project running.
I believe that it would be a fantastic experience for your students who are
interested in animal welfare and conservation. It is a opportunity for them
to work with and learn about many wild animal species they would not
encounter in the course of their studies.
This is the reason why I am writing to you; we would highly appreciate it if
you could inform your stundents about us.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
Yours faithfully,
Dalma Zsalako
