I have given this a lot of thoughts during this summer. I am under the
impression that chemical engineering students do need to write Fortran
programs, at least from my experence while dealing with computational
scientiists. That is why despite that I am a C/C++ lover, this course
has to be in Fortran. In addition, we could not locate any free Fortran 90
compiler in CSIE (very few CS people write Fortran programs), so I have to
teach this course in F77. I would love to teach F90 since it has a lot of
parallel features, which are closely related to my research in parallel
processing, but without a F90 PowerStation site license I do not see how
you can compile your programs.
Hope this answers your question.
