這是何老師的說法：
As for many opinions expressed about the basement, my response is simple.
Each student has his or her own opinion about the appropriate function of
the basement. I respect each one of those, however, I simply cann't agree
with those who do not respect the other. Notice that some student wants
study quitely, and no one should deprive of their right. On the other hand,
nobody should deprive of your right in discussing school matters, such as
homework assignment, departmental activity, etc, in the basement. You are
only being asked to respect the other and still permitted to talk or discuss
matters in the basement. This means that your voice level is limited during
certain time period. For those students who desire a quiet place to study in
the basement, I also want you to understand that you should also respect the
other who desperately require discussing and talking, and do not want to be
deprived of the same right.
我把他翻成中文在下面，想看中文的同學可以看這邊：
老師的回答很簡單，關於地下室適當的功能，他很尊重每一位同學自己的想法，然而他
沒有辦法認同那些不尊重其他同學的同學。因此既然有些同學想要安靜的唸書，我們就
不能去剝奪他們的權利；另一方面，也沒人可以去剝奪我們在地下室討論像功課、社團
活動等學校事務。我們仍然被允許在地下室說話或者討論，只要我們能夠尊重他人，這
代表我們在某段時間內必須控制音量；而對於那些想要安靜唸書的同學也一樣，也必須
尊重那些需要討論與說話同學的權利。:)
