Zoltan Kodaly(*) 為匈牙利作曲家、民謠收集家與音樂學者。自小生長在音樂世家。
一生作品包含教堂音樂與室內樂，同時致力於匈牙利傳統民歌音樂。詞則是來自聖經
詩篇 121 篇的內容。全曲以綿密的和聲層層演進，逐一訴說著萬物真主的偉大，那
些開天闢地的事跡、庇佑以色列而不倦怠的功業、守衛著你不受世間萬惡的侵擾。緩
慢的樂句，但意志是更加的堅定。上帝將會庇佑你，直到永遠。

Whence cometh my help? 我的幫助從何而來？
My help cometh from God, 我的幫助來自上帝，
From the Lord who made Heaven, 來自創造天堂的主，

He will protect thy footsteps, 祂將會庇佑你的腳步，
And He that keeps thee He will not sleep. 看護著你，毫不倦怠。
He that keepeth Israel shall not slumber, 祂保護著以色列，
nor shall He sleep. 毫不倦怠或停歇。
No He shall not slumber nor sleep. 祂毫不倦怠或停歇。
He is thy guard, 祂是你的護衛，
And thy shade on thy right hand. 是你的遮蔽，伴在你右側。
Burning sun shall harm thee not, 灼熱烈日不能刺傷你，
nor shall the moon by night. 夜間月光不能加害你。
He shall preserve thee safe from harm. 祂能保佑你的安全遠離傷痛。
The Lord of hosts shall guard thee, 上帝必能守衛你，
Preserve thee from all(ev'ry) ill. 使你免受一切災害。
Lo, He shall preserve thy soul. 看啊，祂要保護你的靈魂。
He shall preserve thy going out and coming in 祂要保護你，不論你出你入，
From this day forth for evermore. 從此刻直到永遠。
