本曲為 Carpenters 改編作曲大師 Burt Bacharach 於 1963 年發表的作品
《They Long to Be Close to You》，Richard Carpenter 將曲名縮為《Close to You》
，並在他們第二張專輯中灌錄這首歌。本曲不僅在 1970 年 7 月 25 日登上冠軍寶
座並蟬連四星期，還為 Carpenters 在葛萊美獎中奪得「年度最佳新進藝人獎」及
「年度最佳流行合唱團體獎」。
淡淡鄉村抒情曲風，在二度和四度音程的反覆運用中表露無遺，娓娓道盡一位
情竇初開少女的青春旖夢，這在當時搖滾樂盛極一時的年代，可謂替世界樂壇帶來
一股清新芬芳的感動；歌詞平易近人，是一般人生活中俯拾即是的經驗，搭配輕靈
流動的和弦，對聽眾必定是絕佳的心靈饗宴。
