Profile:
Iker Casillas took over the Real Madrid first goalkeeper spot in 1999, kept
his place in the team and won the European Champions League final later that
season. The teenager's impressive performances earned him a place in the
Spanish EURO 2000 squad. He added the Intercontinental Cup,and the league title
in the continuation of his career. The quick and courageous shot-stopper, who
seems impossible to beat in one-on-one situations, won the 1999 FIFA World
Youth Championship Nigeria with Spain. Though losing his number one Real spot
to Cesar, the youngster came on as a substitute in the 2002 Champions League
final to secure victory yet again for the capital club.
