JUJU vs Jack
6 : 4
It was a really long set with lots of double fault, endless deuce, and
unforced errors.
I served first because I happened to have two tennis balls in my pocket. In
the first set, my service was in a really bad condition due to the tricky
wind today. So, I was a bit struggled trying to adjust my place-up in my
service set. During the first set, I was able to get the first three points.
But, I just couldn’t get the final one easily. Trying to figure out the
reason after the game, I realized that I am too rushed of wanting to close
the set. As a result, I couldn’t hit the ball at its sweet point. Instead,
unforced errors started to occur after 40, and I had to calm myself down in
the deuce in order to win. In the end I managed to keep my set, but wasted a
lot of time which were not supposed to happen.
In the second set, Jack’s serve was really shallow that I had to stand just
behind the service line in order to hit the ball in time. I discovered that
he stood too close to the sideline when he serves, so I had the strategy of
aiming the service-return as close to the opposite sideline as possible. In
the first three service return, I was totally taking lead of the game. The
point came to 30-40 after he found out about my strategy. But, it was too
late that lost his set.
It was my turn to serve in the third set, and it was still horrible. Three
double faults occurred and took the confidence of serving away from me. Also,
my forehand kept hitting the ball out, and my double back hand ran straight
towards the net. I started to panic, and got beaten by myself. When I am
awake from the panic, it was already 2-1, and I lost my set.
Jack finished his warming up when more down-the-line shot appeared in this
set. Since my forehand started to go wrong, I was afraid of hitting the
service-return too hard that the ball might fly out of the court. Therefore,
the forehand of mine in this set was really sloppy. That was not bad enough.
I forgot to go back to the base line after hitting the ball, so I was kind of
standing in the no-man’s –land. The ball went right through for many times
because I forgot to go back to the base line. With me going wrong, Jack took
this set.
Trying to adjust my stupid mistakes in the fifth set, I managed to take the
advantage and finished the set without giving Jack too many chance to hit the
ball twice. I thought I could easily take the chance to finish the game with
the point of 6-2. But I were wrong, the turbulence in the sixth and seventh
set dragged me to a place where I think it would be so shameful if I really
lost this game.
It had already taken a great long time when the game came to 4-4. With a
little bit of tiredness, the pace of the game got even slower. Since I really
don’t want to lose the game, I started to make the temper go faster. Thank
goodness that my soul of service came alive that I gave Jack no chance to get
a point in the 9th set, and finishing up the game with the final result of
6-4.
On the whole, I was supposed to finish this game without any trouble because
the competitor was not that good at all. In fact, I struggled through the
whole game. I summed up couple of reasons below. First of all, lacking the
experience of playing singles since I think double will be much easier. When
playing double there’s a partner whom you can count on. But when it comes to
single, you are the only one that could help you win the game. Second of all,
I didn’t hold the temper of the game well. The pace was slow that made me
unable to keep concentrating on the game, and I thought about the next point
too much that I couldn’t focus. Third, my service got distracted after there
was a double-fault. It was like an endless maze that kept trapping you from
the exit. Last but not least, my tennis skill is too immature in both physic
and ability. Except my serving, the progress of improvement is too slow.
Looking back at the goals that you asked me to make a year ago when I was
still a fresh man, I hardly achieve any of it. I know there’s no excuse when
you failed finishing something that were supposed to be done long time ago.
The base wasn’t built properly and I was trying so hard adding things on top
of it. So, it ended up very wobbly and lies in a place which defines not too
bad and also not good at all. Or even worse, like you told me that in your
opinion, we have no base at all. We are people who grab a tennis racket
hitting a ball with no knowledge and absolutely no skill at all.
Tennis is not a stranger, since I started to play when I was still a kid. It
always reminds me of the great time my friend and I had back in NZ. It’s a
connection between our friend-ship. I know by heart that the room for
improvement is huge, and I also know that I improve very slowly because I
didn't put much time on it. However, I will still try to adjust the problems
mentioned above. So that maybe in some day when he saw me play tennis, I can
wow him.
In the end of this 1000 words' paper which took me one and an half hour to
create. I would like to thank you for giving me the chance of looking up all
sorts of proper nouns about tennis.
And you better finish reading all what I had written!!
